A visual feast: izzy+ flavors decorates the menu at Neocon ’12, with happy hour at the izzy Nemo Bar and Trellis, a delicious perch on the HAG Capisco Puls, and a splash of IdeaPaint on the side -- plus cookies and a plaid-wrapped MINI!
NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2012: June 11-13, 2012
The Merchandise Mart, Showrooms 11-100 + 8-2030
CHICAGO – June 2012 – Chuck Saylor is rarely at a loss for words, but when contemplating the significance of Neocon 2012 for the company he founded and continues to lead, he fell silent for a long moment of introspection.
“It’s truly hard to know where to begin,” said Saylor, who launched izzy+ just months prior to the 9/11 terror attacks and has seen the company grow steadily during a time of national and global economic challenge. “I believe we’ve come to a seminal moment in our history. Without question, this is the most significant Neocon show since we began the company in 2001.”
At Neocon 2012, izzy+ is in full launch mode with a chromatic blast of fresh and branded colors and materials in a curated collection called izzy+ flavors, a sweeping new program that will provide a blended solution for all of the company’s product brands -- izzy, HÅG, Harter, Fixture Furniture and ABCO 2.0.
Along with the varied and vibrant new finishes, materials and colors, izzy+ is also introducing its much-anticipated Nemo Bar and Trellis by izzy, the first two commercial pieces in what promises to be a robust series of Nemo by izzy products that support 21st century ways of working, learning and gathering with inspiration at the core. The Bar also is appearing in a vignette in the main floor lobby of the Merchandise Mart during the show, aimed at attracting people to experience the full Nemo idea in the izzy+ showroom.
“It feels a bit like the culmination of a journey we’ve been on for the past 11 years to develop an overarching brand that would someday stand for the next generation of furniture needs in the marketplace,” says Saylor. “With the arrival of izzy+ flavors, and the expansion of our product portfolio with a strategic focus on a blended solution for working and learning environments, this year’s NeoCon really shows the power of the message we have believed in from the start -- connection and collaboration, leading to shared work and shared learning, is going to prevail over a market driven by hierarchy and solitary work.”
The izzy+ story will unfold in an enlarged and renovated showroom in space 11-100 at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, highlighted by an interactive wall to introduce izzy+ flavors, a concept corridor that includes Nemo by izzy concepts as well as the new Bar and Trellis, and the new HÅG Capisco Puls, a streamlined and highly sustainable task chair and stool designed by Peter Opsvik of Norway, one of the world’s masters of ergonomic and healthy seating.
In addition, izzy+ will be launching ABCO 2.0 with the enriched KEEL casegoods system and new seating offerings in ABCO’s showroom space 8-2030 in the Merchandise Mart during Neocon 2012.
The main showroom on the 11th floor also will expand upon the izzy+ influence in the higher education marketplace, where award-winning Fixtures Furniture products like Dewey and Webster have been warmly embraced by colleges and universities throughout North America.
What’s more, large sections of the showroom’s walls have been coated with IdeaPaint, the newest strategic partner for izzy+, with whom the company is exploring an “IdeaPaint Powered” technology that can be applied to furniture.
“Our journey is more fulfilling when we have people come alongside us and help us along the way,” says Saylor. “That’s been a key dimension of the izzy+ story throughout our history -- lots of people interacting, leveraging each other’s strengths, wanting to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We’ve been dreaming that dream from the beginning.”
The izzy+ dream continues at NeoCon 2012, as does the tradition of serving chocolate chip cookies in the showrooms, and parking the MINI Cooper with the izzy+ logo right in front of the main entrance to the Merchandise Mart. Dwarfed by the hulking semi-trucks of the major companies in the contract furniture industry, the izzy+ madras plaid MINI is conspicuous by its spritely style and scale -- and its fortuitous position.
The employees of izzy+ (www.izzyplus.com) design, manufacture and market office furniture and seating that solve real problems for real people. The focus is to provide designers with the tools to create inspiring work spaces for forward-thinking customers in home offices and small businesses, in executive offices and board rooms, in hospitals and classrooms. Its award-winning products are marketed under the brand names izzy, HÅG, Harter, Fixtures Furniture and ABCO. Based in Spring Lake, MI, izzy+ is a business of JSJ Corporation of Grand Haven, MI.
