Webster redefines cool and comfortable seating for the classroom, the commons, cafes and work settings
NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2011: The Merchandise Mart, Spaces 11-100 and 1150
CHICAGO – June 2011 -- Webster is a textbook example of a chair that's lovely to look at, comfortable to sit in, and ruggedly ready for anything in any university or commercial environment.
Webster is designed to make the dean's list in the classroom and everywhere else on campus, but also to fit beautifully in hospitality and corporate work settings. Boasting a clean and modern design, Webster gives new meaning to adaptability, space-saving functionality, sustainability and flexibility wherever it goes.
The chair is the newest seating product from Fixtures Furniture by izzy+ and was designed by the team at bangdesign in Sydney, Australia, under the direction of the firm’s principal David Granger.
“In many cases through the years, the learning environment has been a design-free zone and the furniture has been built to a standard of indestructible blandness,” said Granger. “We wanted Webster to be strong and sustainable, but also beautiful, even inspirational.”
The result, according to izzy+ founder and CEO Chuck Saylor, is a design that “has a universal appeal to it that takes Webster to places well beyond higher education. You could see it in modern art museums, in learning places, multifunction rooms where you have to reconfigure on a regular basis, project-based spaces, to beautiful cafe applications.”
Webster moves smoothly on casters and it folds, nests or stacks even with the optional tablet arm attached. It’s available in 15 vibrant colors, and sturdily constructed of extruded and cast aluminum in its frame and polypropylene in its seat pan and back.
Like all chairs in the izzy+ family, Webster is designed for extreme comfort. Its seat gently cradles the user and its intuitive, articulating back allows the user freedom of movement along with providing passive ergonomic support.
Webster also is designed with the environment in mind, using recycled/recyclable materials with minimal impact on indoor air quality. It awaits BIFMA LEVEL certification.
Beautiful, tough, colorful, versatile, Webster appears destined for "summa cum laude" status, an inspired choice for inspiring spaces -- on campus or off.
