Layla conference tables beautifully support connection -- human and technological -- and bring fresh life to meetings
NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2011: The Merchandise Mart, Spaces 11-100 and 1150
CHICAGO – June 2010 -- Adaptable, affordable, Euro-beautiful and thoughtfully practical, Layla is the inspiration of Lucy.D, an Austrian design firm led by Karin Santorso and Barbara Ambrosz. It’s their first project for Harter by izzy+.
“Layla is meant for collaboration and communication,” the Vienna-based designers explain. “The design creates an approachable meeting and discussion platform that also offers storage and display functionality and rich technology support. Layla brings life to meetings.”
Understated elegance and functionality join forces in this conference table system, with its unusually light visual touch and practical, technology friendly details. Layla is available in 13 standard configurations -- large or small, racetrack, round, or u-shaped.
Layla promotes connection -- human and technological -- and offers seating for up to 24 people. Layla’s sleek work surface comes in a choice of eight veneers, 10 laminates or markerboard, and its organically inspired base boasts six finishes and either a C-leg or X-base option.
All of Layla’s intelligent functions are easily accessed when you need them, and easily stored when you don’t. Layla’s integrated horizontal raceway is both beautiful and functional—ready for delivering power and data where you need it most. Vertical cable management is handled discreetly through the legs of the table. Drop-in storage trays allow you to stock the raceway with everything from writing utensils and sketchpads to plants, beverages and snacks.
In tandem with the introduction of the conference table series, more than 4,000 copies of a new hardcover storybook entitled “The Adventures of izzy and Lucy.D” have been distributed across North America to members of the architecture and design community.
The storybook recounts the inspiration for the design and development of Layla, with appropriate artistic and creative license. And just like in real life, the story culminates in a festive birthday party for izzy in homage to the imminent observance of the 10th birthday of izzy+, scheduled for June 2011 during NeoCon.
