Gregg Masenthin announces retirement from izzy+, setting in motion a restructured leadership team
SPRING LAKE, Michigan, July 29, 2013 -- Gregg Masenthin, who served more than five years as president of izzy+ and engineered the consolidation of Jami Inc. companies he once led into the izzy+ family of brands, announced his retirement from his leadership duties at the Michigan-based company. His retirement from day-to-day responsibilities is effective August 31, 2013, but he will continue serving izzy+ in a ongoing consulting role through the calendar year.
“I believe it is the right time for me to make a change,” Masenthin said in a farewell message to the izzy+ staff. “I have always traveled for business, but the frequency of my travel over the last five years has been extensive (and) I have reached a point and age where that type of schedule isn’t as easy as it once was.”
Masenthin, who lives in Prairie Village, Kansas, said that his deep roots in the Kansas City metropolitan area and his desire to spend more time with his family were key factors in his decision to retire.
Chuck Saylor, CEO and founder of izzy+, paid tribute to Masenthin’s painstaking efforts in support of the consolidation of the Fixtures Furniture, Harter and ABCO brands into the “Better Together” domain of izzy+.
“Gregg’s contributions have positioned izzy+ well for great success in the marketplace,” said Saylor. “His analytical mind and his warm heart combined to form a strong and sensitive leadership style, and his presence will be missed.”
Masenthin’s late-summer departure from the daily activities of the business has prompted a restructuring of the responsibilities within the senior leadership team at izzy+.
Saylor continues on in his role as CEO and will be assisted by three senior vice presidents:
- Joan Hill, who joined izzy+ with the Jami acquisition a little more than five years ago, is the Chief Operating Officer and will oversee operations, engineering and human resources.
- Eric Wolff, who came to izzy+ earlier this year as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer after a dozen years as CEO of the Stow Company, has been named Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing.
- David Zuspann, who has served the past three years as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller at the parent JSJ Corporation in Grand Haven, will become Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for izzy+.
