For izzy+, Valentine's Day 2012 means giving back, getting together, and checking out a racy new Puls
SPRING LAKE, Michigan, January 27, 2012--For Valentine’s Day 2012, izzy+ is spreading the love from Norway to Nicaragua -- and to countless romantic spots in between.
The annual promotion, launched seven years ago by Harter, now part of the izzy+ family of brands, is highlighting the company’s “Better Together” tagline. It’s also showcasing a broader portfolio of izzy+ brands and products aimed at helping people work and learn in inspiring, surprising and productive ways for the 21st Century.
Leaders at izzy+ will be crisscrossing the continent and blitzing the North American A&D community for the first half of February, showing off hot new products, sharing special handmade chocolates and the third in a trilogy of Valentine-related storybook. As part of the promotion, izzy+ is giving away a cross-cultural, service-oriented trip to Nicaragua this November for up to a half-dozen designers/specifiers.
“The reason izzy+ exists is because we feel strongly about connecting people so we can all be better together,” said company founder and CEO Chuck Saylor. “We believe there’s power in getting people of very diverse backgrounds and talents to work on common projects and common goals. We decided this year to give away a special trip to Nicaragua to put a group of talented people in a common mission to learn about another culture and to give back in service to make the world a little better place.”
In addition, for every designer who enters the trip giveaway, izzy+ will make a donation in their behalf to the non-profit children’s literacy organization Reading is Fundamental.
The headliner for the promotion from a product perspective is a design heartthrob from the Norwegian capital of Oslo. The HÅG Capisco Puls by izzy+ is making its North American debut on Valentine’s Day, dressed for the occasion in a torrid and tempting red edition.
Designed by Peter Opsvik, Puls is the newest member of the iconic HÅG Capisco family of active and ergonomic seating, aimed at the next generation with a ruggedly comfortable and fully recyclable plastic saddle seat and back with integrated arm rests.
“Puls is perfect for touch-down spots like libraries, cafes, training rooms and computer labs -- all kinds of meeting spaces where people might gather for an hour or two,” notes Nick Fernandez, the Seating Product and Brand Manager for izzy+.
Fernandez adds: “It has all the functionality that has made the original version such a hit for the past 25 years, but it also responds to the new generation’s desire for informality, as well as movement, comfort and self-expression.”
The height-adjustable, swivel chair is available in four seat and back colors -- red, black, light gray and blue-gray. There is a upholstered pad for the sweet spot on the saddle seat, as well as an optional fully upholstered saddle seat. Depending on options chosen, the Puls carries a list price from $960 to $1,180 fully decked out.
Puls earned a red dot award for product design when it was introduced to the European market last year.
This year’s Valentine’s storybook is a glossary that redefines literary cheekiness and is entitled “From Adventure to Zilch: 26 izzy+ words to live and learn by.” Among the unpredictable assemblage of words, one for each letter in the alphabet: Doodle, geek, haiku, rabble-rouser.
In addition to the hard-cover book, “From Adventure to Zilch” lives in an online version with narration at the izzy+ Valentine’s Day mini-site, izzyplusAtoZ.com. The site also include a video message from Chuck Saylor about the Nicaraguan adventure, and a form for designers who participate in the promotion to submit their entry to win the trip

Goode said izzy+ representatives expect to meet face-to-face with about 4,000 designers around North America during the first two weeks of February.
