Anthro Accord
The modern and minimalist Anthro Accord was jointly designed by Jan Kuypers and Dr. Aage Christian Mandal. With forward-tilt seating and a unique touch control feature that allows back and seat to respond interdependently, Anthro Accord is the hardworking chair for hardworking people.
Designed by Jan Kypurs & Dr. Aage Christian
Jan Kuypers was born in 1925 in Holland where his father owned a furniture factory. He graduated from the Academie of Arts and Architecture, The Hague in 1947. After college, Kuypers moved to England and then to Canada in 1951. Following post-graduate studies in industrial design at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he set up the industrial design department at Imperial Furniture Manufacturing in Stratford, Ontario. He was chief designer there until 1960. Following that, he became a partner at E. ORR and Associates, Toronto. Shortly thereafter, he founded the Industrial Design Consultancy with Julian Rowan and Frank Dudas. He later helped to establish KAN, one of Canada’s longest running industrial design. Kuypers has designed countless products, won numerous awards and has been an inspiration to Canadian industrial designers for more than 40 years.
